Diamonds Beneficiation from Placer

Diamond is a natural mineral, exists in the ore or placer. It needs beneficiation methods to extract diamonds from placer. Then how to select diamonds from placer?

Generally speaking, the diamond pick out from placer is just rough diamond which is not polished or cut. This priceless mineral content in the ore is very low, and beneficiation methods must be used. For diamond beneficiation, the process can be screening, roughing selection, fine selection process, comprehensive gravity separation , ointment beneficiation, artificial selection and so on.

First step shall be screening since the low diamond content in placer. Get different sized mineral for gravity separation, then use ointment dressing or manual selection to select the diamond.

Cylindrical sieve is usually used in screening process, which not only play the role of screening, but also plays a role of washing ore. It is a good choice for high clay content diamond placer. Of course linear vibrating screen is also used in large-scale diamond beneficiation with high efficiency and stable performance.

After screening the material are fed into different jig machine according to different mineral sizes. The jig machine uses different specific gravity between the diamond and wast rock. The specific gravity of diamond around 3.5, and the average proportion of common placer is not more than 2.6, so it can get good beneficiation effect by gravity separation.

As a rougher diamond beneficiation method, gravity separation can not provide the final pure diamond. Find selection is needed, use ointment dressing or manual selection the specific nature of the diamond.
