An Iron Removal Method for Quartz Sand
High-grade quartz sand is the main raw material for solar glass production, but the iron in the quartz sand is a big failure to high qui solar glass. So the iron removal process must be done for quartz sand with excessive iron content before being used for industrial production. Here Forui gives an introduction to an iron removal method for quartz sand.
As we all know, the simplest way of iron removal in quartz sand is magnetic separation. The regular magnetic separator can deal with the magnetic iron minerals in quartz sand, however, for the removal of weak magnetic iron or non-magnetic iron in quartz sand, regular magnetic separation process is not a good choice.
For example, the the removal of weak magnetic iron minerals such as ferric oxide need a special separation method-Electromagnetic Separation, but it needs big equipment investment and high production costs. For the removal of iron pyrite mineral in quartz sand, neither the weak magnetic separation nor the high intensity magnetic separation are avaliable because pyrite has no magnetism.
The conventional way for removal of pyrite in quartz sand is flotation or gravity separation. Since the flotation method has clear requirement to the particle size of materials, it is unable to meet the particle size for solar glass. So the flotation is not the right beneficiation method for pyrite removal in quartz sands.
The gravity separation method is the only way to pyrite removal, which has remarkable effect for coarse, medium-grained pyrite ore beneficiation, but for the micro-fine particles of pyrite mineral, it also has some drawbacks. But the pyrite in quartz sand are mostly coarse-grained disseminated, just carry out the gravity separation in the material crushing process and under the coarse-grained state.
